On October 14th, 2023 we are honouring the legacy of Harriet Tubman, through celebrating the two stewards of the land where she brought her brothers out of enslavement.

Here we have a photo oof Auntie Harriet wearing glasses from my series "A Provenance", and in the lens if you squint your eyes, you might be able to see two beautiful women sitting on that very land.

Paulette Greene and Donna Dear are Black, gay elders who have lived in love together for almost 50 years, and have welcomed people to their homestead, The Ways Station at Mt. Pleasant Acres Farms in Preston, MD since 1994.

Their ecological campus, includes countless points of study from the restoration of native grasses, an orchard named Harriet's Orchard and a Tulip Poplar affectionately named "The Witness Tree" that is known to be where people fleeing enslavement prayed before their long journey began.

This summer, our film about these women and this land celebrated it's World Premiere at BlackStar Film Festival and is receiving incredible support. Our October event is an opportunity to meet these women, the land and to be a part of the production of our feature length documentary We Will Be Elders.

We're offering this unique t-shirt to commemorate this convergence.
